Funky Ride: My Experience with PAR-Projects

Being part of the Funky Ride exhibition with PAR-Projects in Cincinnati was an incredible experience. While the show celebrated southern voices in the arts, my goal was to create a piece that offered a moment of calm and tranquility for anyone stepping into the space.

I completed a large-scale piece in just four days, drawing inspiration from Lecrae’s song Headphones. I wanted the artwork to evoke the same sense of peace, reflection, and stillness that the song carries. Each line and layer was intentionally designed to create a serene environment, inviting viewers to pause and connect with the energy of the work.

I had the honor of exhibiting alongside Brandon, whose presence made the show feel intimate yet powerful. Sharing the space and witnessing each other’s work added a special energy to the exhibition.

A huge thank-you to Executive Director //

Jonathan Sears, MFA for believing in my work and the entire PAR-Projects staff for their dedication, support, and vision. Their warmth and guidance made this exhibition a seamless and memorable experience.

My piece at Funky Ride was not just a display of art — it was an invitation to pause, reflect, and experience calmness amidst the gallery space.
